The Queen's Engineering Sustainable Solutions and Technologies (QUESST) competition is an exciting initiative designed to foster a culture of innovation and equip Queen's students with the skills and drive to tackle pressing global challenges. By participating, students are not only indulging in academic design but are engaging deeply with real-world problems centered around sustainability. The event uniquely bridges theory with practice, allowing students to apply their classroom-acquired knowledge in tangible ways, driving them to think critically whilst participating in some friendly competition. QUESST also offers a platform for professional growth as participants will connect with industry experts, gaining invaluable mentorship and networking opportunities. By emphasizing teamwork and multifaceted problem-solving, QUESST not only nurtures technical proficiency but also interpersonal skills and cross-disciplinary understanding.
We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following coordinator positions. All coordinators will work directly with the 2025/2026 directors to plan and oversee the competition.
Sponsorship Coordinator: We are seeking individuals who possess strong organization and communication skills, a sense of teamwork, and professionalism. In this role, you will be responsible for working with the sponsorship team and sponsorship director to secure funding for the QUESST competition. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your communication skills and gain valuable professional experience while establishing direct connections with Fortune 500 companies. Speakers/Mentors Coordinator: In the role of the Speakers/Mentors Coordinator, you will be responsible for seeking out and connecting with inspiring professionals who will speak at our competition or connect with our teams to provide insight during the competition. You will also work closely with our logistics team to organize speaker panels, select topics, and establish an overall theme that resonates with our audience. You will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and mentors throughout the planning process and the event, ensuring that they are well-prepared and fully supported. You will also be responsible for coordinating and collaborating with the logistics team to ensure that all aspects of the event run smoothly. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter with a passion for connecting with professionals and building meaningful relationships. You should also be highly organized, creative, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Logistics Coordinator: As the Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting the planning and executing all aspects of venue bookings, food arrangements, hotel bookings for speakers and sponsors, table arrangements, and decor. Additionally, you will work closely with the Speaker's team to ensure high-level scheduling and coordination of all logistics aspects. The ideal candidate for this role should have applicable organizational skills or planning experience, and also be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You should also be highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven track record of successfully coordinating complex tasks. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and stakeholders are also key predictors for success in this role.
Marketing Coordinator: In the Marketing Coordinator role, you will be responsible for kickstarting and managing our social media channels, including Instagram and LinkedIn. You will also be in charge of creating and managing our website, posting engaging content, and implementing a strategic plan for growth. As a Marketing Coordinator, you will also be responsible for creating graphics for promotion and ensuring that all marketing materials are visually compelling and consistent with our brand. We are looking for someone who is interested in graphics and website creation and has a proven track record of creating engaging online content. The ideal candidate for this role should be highly creative, detail-oriented, and have a strong understanding of digital marketing and social media best practices. You should also be comfortable working independently and have excellent project management and communication skills.
