Do you want the opportunity to build your network with Engineering students and faculty, develop strong marketing & events planning skills, and make a lasting impact on the experience of Queen's Engineering students? The position of Academic Caucus Coordinator might be for you!

As the Caucus Coordinator, you will chair, organize and plan academic caucuses - these are events intended to start conversations between students and faculty about how to improve Engineering education at Queen's. Here are some details about the caucuses:

  • Attended by faculty members, discipline staff, professors, discipline reps and other students.
  • (At least) 4 during the year, split between focus on first year and upper year engineering.
  • Discuss updates, curriculum changes, student concerns, and ideas for improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize the logistics for the caucuses.
  • Find faculty members, discipline staff, reps, and students to attend.
  • Generate summary documents, strategic plans and goals after the caucuses and work with the disciplines and Director of Academics to work towards these goals.
  • Chair the caucuses.
  • Market the caucuses to increase attendance.

Estimated time commitment: 3 hours/ week.

Applicants should have the following skills:

  • Strong organization & time management
  • Creativity
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with a team

Additionally, experience with the following can be helpful (but is not necessary!) for the position:

  • Technical skills (computer, social networks, marketing, etc.)
  • Event planning

Remember, this role does not require prior experience. While experience can help your application, applicants without prior experience are still encouraged to apply!
