Queen's Solar Design Team

The Queen's Solar Design Team is an interdisciplinary team of students who have a passion for innovation and sustainable design. QSDT will design a solar-powered tiny house that competes in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon Competition.

In addition, the team work on projects at the Solar Education Centre located on West Campus and will promote solar education to the Kingston community.

Note: All positions require no experience, and we encourage students from all faculties to apply!

The Projects Manager is a position for those wanting to develop their skills as engineers and as leaders! QSDT is currently working on numerous side projects related to the Queen's Solar Education Centre (QSEC) on West Campus. The Projects Manager will oversee these projects and all will be in charge of visits to the QSEC.

Requirements:

  • Interested in sustainability and construction.
  • Has good leadership skills and enjoys teaching others.
  • Organized and reliable.
  • Has previous experience with manual labour and construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the projects at the Queen's Solar Education Centre.
  • Overseeing the design and construction phases of each project.
  • Managing all repairs and all things related to the QSEC.

Members will gain experience in:

  • Leadership and Communication.
  • Infrastructure design and project management.
  • Hands-on experience with construction and repairs.
