This representative sits on the Equity Team which is overseen by the Equity Team Chair. The Equity Team supports and organizes Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigeneity, Accessibility, and Sustainability (EDII-AS) related planning and initiatives within the Engineering Society. The Gender and Sexuality Representative provides a voice on behalf of the many and varied groups in the student body to the Engineering Society. If you are passionate about equity and making improvements to current practices, this is the role for you!
Responsibilities include attending weekly equity team meetings to discuss relevant information and feedback, communicating with clubs and groups involved in recognizing and celebrating LGBTQ+/gender in STEM students at Queen's, planning and coordinating relevant equity initiatives, reviewing current society practices, and acting as a resource to engineering students.
Applicants should be withhold the following traits:
- Have passion for the celebration of the LGBTQ+/gender in EngSoc
- Work effectively in a team
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Can take initiative
