About QEC
The Queen’s Engineering Competition (QEC) is an annual event that allows engineering students from different disciplines attending Queen’s University to compete in a variety of engineering competition categories. QEC showcases the innovation and creativity of Queen’s Engineering students, throughout a weekend of good-natured competition. The winners of each category are selected to compete at the Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC), where they compete for cash prizes and a chance to attend the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC).
We are currently hiring for the following director positions:
- Director of Sponsorship
- Director of Marketing
- Director of Logistics
- Director of Finance
- Director of Challenges
Below are the general requirements and details that apply to all positions. All Directors will be reporting to the Co-Chairs throughout the work term and are expected to conduct regular meetings with their Coordinators.
General Requirements
- A flexible weekly schedule with an eagerness to put forth quality work
- Work term will be from April 2023 to the Conference date in 2024, including summer months (although less time commitment)
- Passion for creativity and innovation in STEM
- Excellent management and organizational skills
- A highly driven and optimistic mentality
- Nice to have qualities:
- Leadership experience
- Relative experience pertaining to desired position (eg. Finance coursework)
Sponsorship Director Requirements
- Oversee Sponsorship Coordinators
- Make/Update Sponsorship Package
- Research grants/donations to apply for
Marketing Director Requirements
- Oversee Marketing Coordinators
- Plan and actively manage posting schedules
- Organize media (photos, videos, social media) during the conference
Logistics Director Requirements
- Oversee Logistics Coordinators
- Work closely with Finance Director to ensure all expenditures stay within budget
- Effectively book venues and amenities to be used throughout the event
Finance Director Requirements
- Manage cash inflow and outflow
- Work with co-chairs to make and update conference budget
- Work with the sponsorship team
Challenges Director Requirements
- Oversee Challenges Coordinators
- Plan overall structure and delivery of challenges
- Maintain quality and integrity of challenges
