Queen's Solar Design Team

The Queen's Solar Design Team is an interdisciplinary team of students who have a passion for innovation and sustainable design. QSDT will design a solar-powered tiny house that competes in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon Competition. In addition, the team will do construction and repairs to restore the Solar Education Centre located on West Campus.

Note: All positions require no experience, and we encourage students from all faculties to apply!


The General Member is a position for those who want a low commitment involvement. As a general member you will have the liberty to work with different sub-teams, and assist team leads in their research. This is a great opportunity to learn new things and you have the liberty of choosing how much time you'd like to commit.

  • Civil
  • Architecture
  • Materials
  • Electrical
  • Business

Requirements: Works well with others and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities: Assist team leads with research, modelling, and any other tasks.

Members will gain experience in:

  • Various disciplines of engineering or business.
  • Teamwork and Communication.
  • Hands-on experience with construction and repairs.
