Description

The Queen's Space Engineering Team (QSET) is a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of 100+ students from all engineering disciplines and various faculties. Our team will be designing a Satellite to enter the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (for more information https://www.csdcms.ca/). The goal for this team is to launch a project into orbit to perform an actual mission in outer space.

The Space School Manager is responsible for organizing, facilitating, and delivering the weekly Space School program to new students joining the Queen's Space Engineering Design Team (QSET) on the satellite side. They will prepare new and revise existing material for weekly lab-formatted sessions for the Space School toastSat project. They will lead sessions, instructing space school participants on concepts related to satellite systems, space science and mechatronics as students work in teams towards development of their toastSats.

You will be responsible for keeping the course on track and providing hands on debugging and problem solving with hardware. There is a potential to organize a stratospheric balloon launch of the toastSats alongside community partners! The Space School Manager must have strong organizational and communication skills, and experience on QSET is an asset. This is a role that emphasizes leadership as you shall be mentoring and advising not just students, but peers and future engineers.

The Queen’s Space Engineering Team encourages applications from women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. If you require accommodations during the interview process, please contact qset @ engsoc.queensu.ca.
