About the Committee

Under the Director of Social Issues portfolio, the Engineering Society Sustainability Committee advocates for environmental equity. The guiding principles of the committee are:

  1. Promote sustainability through increasing visibility and education.
  2. Incorporate sustainability at all levels of EngSoc policy and administration.
  3. Minimize EngSoc’s resource use and waste production.

About the Role

The responsibilities of this role include attending a weekly team meeting and independent work on committee initiatives. Committee members will have opportunities to lead projects related to data analysis, resource consumption reduction, waste reduction, communications, and EngSoc policy. Committee members will also be invited to give feedback on planned projects and propose projects to implement during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Strong candidates for this committee are:

  • Passionate about environmental sustainability and creating positive change in the Queen’s Engineering community
  • Organized and excited to take the lead on initiatives
  • Reliable team members
