Description

The Queen's Space Engineering Team (QSET) is a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of students from all engineering disciplines, in addition to the Faculty of Arts and Science. QSET designs a prototype Mars Rover for participation in the University Rover Challenge (for more information please visit http://urc.marssociety.org/home). The team also designs a Satellite to enter the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (for more information please visit https://www.csdcms.ca/). The goal for this team is to launch a project into orbit to perform an actual mission in outer space.

If selected as the QSET Media Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining QSET’s visual presence and managing competition deliverables that require multi-media elements. The primary responsibilities of this role include the planning and execution of the Rover team’s video for the Systems Acceptance Review (SAR), maintaining the QSET website, and managing QSET’s social media platforms. The SAR is a major competition milestone and requires that the team create a video that captures all functional aspects of the Rover to prove competition readiness. Ultimately, SAR determines if the team is accepted into the competition. The Media Manager will coordinate with the relevant technical managers to prepare scripts, develop shot lists, and film functional rover components with the direct support of the Captain and Chief Technical Officer. The maintenance of the website includes, but is not limited to, updating content, writing content for teams, and making improvements, as necessary. Social media is used to communicate team events and share team progress with the public. The Media Manager is responsible for developing, posting, and coordinating within the team to ensure that all required posts are scheduled and that both teams are consistently and equitably featured throughout the year.

The Queen’s Space Engineering Team encourages applications from women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, Persons with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. If you require accommodations during the interview process, please contact qset @engsoc.queensu.ca.
