Queen’s Project on International Development is hiring committee members for the 2023-2024 team! QPID is a student-run organization with a variety of portfolios operating jointly to achieve QPID’s mandate of fostering a development consciousness in the Queen’s community as a catalyst for local and global change. We are looking for those who are passionate about development or those who want to learn more, and help be a catalyst for local and global change.

Marketing Committee Members (2)

The Marketing Committee will be responsible for the creation of all promotional materials and graphics for QPID's events, including forums, the fall Community Outreach event, the CwQ campaign, and internships. The committee will work with the marketing team to help QPID and its portfolios market their events in the Queen’s community.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Create graphics for Facebook and Instagram
  • Create posting schedules
  • Work with graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Suite
  • Take photographs or videos of QPID events to use as promotional material
  • Work together with the committee and other QPID portfolios to ensure all events are being marketed effectively

Finance Committee Member (1)

The Finance committee member works closely with the Finance Executive to keep track of all QPID’s deposits and payments, and works closely with the Internship portfolio, sponsorship team and other C&C executive teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with other QPID portfolio’s regarding costs and spending
  • Help track fundraising for Internship
  • Help plan and coordinate fundraisers for QPID’s Interns
  • Help Finance Executive track and count funds collected through Collecting with QPID (CWQ)
  • Help administer QPID’s CDF (Community Development Fund)

Sponsorship Committee Member (1)

Roles & Responsibilities

The Sponsorship committee member works with the Sponsorship executive to raise funds for the organization’s operations for the current and upcoming year(s) through external and internal :

  • Help with grant writing and editing
  • Help in redesigning the sponsorship package distributed to potential sponsors
  • Communicate with potential sponsors
  • Help administer QPID’s CDF (Community Development Fund)

Community Outreach Committee Members (3)

The Community Outreach Committee members will help organize and execute a fall semester fundraiser/event in support of a local NGO. They will also be responsible for helping plan, advertise and coordinating the Collecting with QPID campaign in conjunction with the Kingston Youth Shelter.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and run the Fall Event
  • Organize and manage the Collecting with QPID campaign
  • Work closely with other QPID portfolios & reach out to local businesses
  • Work closely with the Kingston Youth Shelter

Youth Conference Committee Members (2)

The Youth Conference Committee will be responsible for planning and running a one day conference on a specific topic within global development to a large group of delegates from local area junior/high schools (grades 7 to 12).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work with committee to organize and manage the annual Youth Conference, and ensure success
  • Execute delegate tasks (including technology management, catering, volunteers, teacher registration, delegates, logistics, etc.)
  • Work with other QPID portfolios such as Workshops to include at the conference
  • Outreach to high schools in Kingston and the surrounding area



Forum Committee Members (2)

The Forum Committee is responsible for helping plan and execute multiple one hour public forums on various topics within international development per semester. This involves helping the executives brainstorm and book speakers, organizing case competitions/activities, facilitating debates.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm ideas and plan bi-weekly forums relating to development topics for QPID and other students to attend
  • Research development topics and create presentations for the forums
  • Spread awareness and educate students about development topics in the Queen’s community
  • Work with other portfolios to create and present forums when necessary (eg. Youth Conference or CwQ).
  • Work with the other committee members and executive team to ensure successful events, including marketing.

Workshop Committee Members (3)

The Workshops Coordinators will be responsible for presenting a series of development workshops in local Kingston schools. Workshops Coordinators are also expected to create new workshops and/or modify existing ones to keep up with changes in the Ontario curriculum. Along with hiring for committee members, there is a leadership position available for the Workshops team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Outreach to Kingston and surrounding area schools and relevant organizations to help arrange workshops
  • Work with committee, students, and teachers to conduct workshops relating to development topics
  • Help create new and modify existing workshops to meet the indicated needs of teachers and students
  • Work across various QPID portfolios to run workshops for other potential QPID events.
