Queen's Solar Design Team

The Queen's Solar Design Team is an interdisciplinary team of students who have a passion for innovation and sustainable design. QSDT will design a solar-powered tiny house that competes in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon Competition.

In addition, the team work on projects at the Solar Education Centre located on West Campus and will promote solar education to the Kingston community.

Note: All positions require no experience, and we encourage students from all faculties to apply!

The Co-Chair is a position for those wanting to develop skills as team leaders and as engineers! They will be responsible for managing the team and guiding them through the Solar Decathlon Competition.

Requirements:

  • Interested in sustainability and solar energy.
  • Has great leadership skills, works well with others, and is eager to learn.
  • Organized, reliable, and a good communicator.
  • Has previous experience with QSDT.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the design of the solar powered house.
  • Overseeing the team leads in managing sub-teams.
  • Managing the operations of the Solar Design Team.

Members will gain experience in:

  • Leadership and Communication.
  • Infrastructure design, project management.
  • Hands-on experience with construction and repairs.
