The Engineering Review Board (ERB) is the primary dispute-resolution body of the Engineering Society, providing a neutral third-party perspective to Society matters where appropriate. The team primarily operates the Engineering Societies grievance process and supports maintaining & reviewing Engineering Society Governing Documents. Additional focus this year will be put on maintaining a precedent document for ERB decisions, and acting as a resource for students looking to understand governing documents better.

4 General Members of the Engineering Review Board sit as voting members on the team, supporting decision-making on grievances received, and additional matters related to ERB operations. Positions are 1-year terms, time commitment is low, however, dependent on the influx of Society dispute matters.

There is an additional member designated to be the Deputy Chair of the ERB. This role will be hired at the time of the rest of the hiring. The responsibilities of the Deputy Chair of the Engineering Review Board shall be to act in place of the Chair in their Absence and support strategic planning. The position holds a 1-year term, time commitment is higher than that of a General Member of the team.

For the role of General Members of the ERB, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Strong teamworking skills
  • Interest in policy & procedure review
  • Interest in supporting grievance processes
  • Strong intrapersonal skills and approachability

If you are interested in becoming the Deputy Chair of the ERB please note your interest in the application. There will be an additional question in your interview relevant to the Deputy Chair.

At least one position on the ERB will be heavily considered for a student currently in their first year.

Deadline to apply: Friday, October 4th at 11:59 PM

Note: Interviews will be held on October 7th-8th, in person. If you require accommodations to be able to interview for this role, or if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Connor Bosy (ERB Chair) at erb @engsoc.queensu.ca
