Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) is a student-run organization committed to promoting and advocating for the involvement of cis and trans women, non-binary, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Our mission has always been to inspire, educate and collaborate to promote and accelerate diversity in STEM industries.
WiSE operates on three main pillars: Inspiring the next generation of women to pursue STEM, educating our community on the importance of diversifying and uplifting minority voices in the STEM industry and encouraging collaboration and creating strong connections amongst like-minded women studying and pursuing careers in STEM.
The First Year Interns will get the chance to shadow various Directors and Coordinators within WiSE and learn more about the planning that goes into each of our initiatives. This position will allow two first year students to build leadership and communication skills, while contributing ideas to WiSE.
WiSE organizes a wide range of initiatives throughout the year including four Kingston outreach programs, mini conferences (Brunch and Dinner with Industry), a four-tiered mentorship program, workshops with corporate sponsors, various fundraisers, and a podcast. Our First Year Interns will assist with various duties for any of these initiatives. Further details about the events and programs WiSE runs can be found on our website: http://queenswise.ca/
Please note Queen’s Women in Science and Engineering is committed to equity, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and welcomes all from cis and trans women, non-binary individuals, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ2S persons.
Applications are due on October 3rd, 2022 at 11:59pm. Interviews will be held between October 5th to October 7th, 2022 through Microsoft Teams.
