Queen’s Project on International Development is hiring Executives for the 2024-2025 year! QPID is a student-run organization with a variety of portfolios operating jointly to achieve QPID’s mandate of fostering a development consciousness in the Queen’s community as a catalyst for local and global change. We are looking for those who are passionate about development or those who want to learn more, and help be a catalyst for local and global change.

Community Outreach Coordinator (2)

The Community Outreach Coordinator (s) will organize and execute a fall semester fundraiser/event in support of a local NGO. They will also be responsible for planning, advertising and coordinating the Collecting with QPID campaign in conjunction with the Kingston Youth Shelter.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Plan, organize, and run the Fall Event
  • Organize and manage the Collecting with QPID campaign
  • Work closely with other QPID portfolios & reach out to local businesses
  • Work closely with the Kingston Youth Shelter

Workshops Coordinator (2)

The Workshops Coordinators will be responsible for presenting a series of development workshops in local Kingston schools. Workshops Coordinators are also expected to create new workshops and/or modify existing ones to keep up with changes in the Ontario curriculum.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Outreach to Kingston and surrounding area schools and relevant organizations to help arrange workshops
  • Work with committee, students, and teachers to conduct workshops relating to development topics
  • Help create new and modify existing workshops to meet the indicated needs of teachers and students
  • Work across various QPID portfolios to run workshops for other potential QPID events.

Youth Conference Coordinator (2)

The Youth Conference Coordinator will be responsible for planning and running a one day conference on a specific topic within global development to a large group of delegates from local area junior/high schools (grades 7 to 12).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Work with committee to organize and manage the annual Youth Conference, and ensure success
  • Execute delegate tasks (including technology management, catering, volunteers, teacher registration, delegates, logistics, etc.)
  • Work with other QPID portfolios such as Workshops to include at the conference
  • Outreach to high schools in Kingston and the surrounding area

Forums Coordinator (2)

The Forum Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing multiple one hour public forums on various topics within international development per semester. This involves booking speakers, organizing case competitions/activities, facilitating debates.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Brainstorm ideas and plan bi-weekly forums relating to development topics for QPID and other students to attend
  • Research development topics and create presentations for the forums
  • Spread awareness and educate students about development topics in the Queen’s community
  • Work with other portfolios to create and present forums when necessary (eg. Youth Conference or CwQ).
  • Work with the other committee members and executive team to ensure successful events, including marketing.

Internships Manager (2)

The internships managers will be responsible for creating and implementing a detailed education plan that will fully prepare interns for their upcoming summer roles abroad, as well as assist interns with fundraising events.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Help hire Summer Interns
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Prepare intern orientation
  • Schedule and put together various trainings for Summer Interns
  • Assist interns with fundraising events
  • Be a resource for interns and help support them in their preparation for their internships
  • Support Internship Directors where needed

Marketing Executive (2)

Will be responsible for the creation of all promotional materials and graphics for QPID's events, including forums, the fall Community Outreach event and CwQ campaign. Will be responsible for overseeing a committee of 2-3 members and responsibly delegating jobs.

  • Hire committee members

  • Create graphics for Facebook and Instagram
  • Create posting schedules
  • Work with graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Suite
  • Take photographs or videos of QPID events to use as promotional material
  • Work together with the committee and other QPID portfolios to ensure all events are being marketed effectively

Finance Executive (1)

The Finance Executive is centrally involved in the financial aspects of QPID and works closely with the Finance Director to keep track of all QPID’s deposits and payments, and works closely with the Internship portfolio, sponsorship team and other C&C executive teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Communicate with other QPID portfolio’s regarding costs and spending
  • Help track fundraising for Internship
  • Help plan and coordinate fundraisers for QPID’s Interns
  • Help Finance Executive track and count funds collected through Collecting with QPID (CWQ)
  • Help administer QPID’s CDF (Community Development Fund)

Sponsorships Coordinator(1)

This position entails responsibility for raising funds for the organization’s operations for the current and upcoming year(s) through external and internal sponsorship.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Help with grant writing and editing
  • Help in redesigning the sponsorship package distributed to potential sponsors
  • Communicate with potential sponsors
  • Help administer QPID’s CDF (Community Development Fund)

Equity Executive (1)

*New* The Equity Executive will work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluations executive and the General Director to further QPID’s equity, diversity, inclusion efforts. Since this is the first year we are offering this position, there is room to grow and shape this position within QPID.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Hire committee members
  • Attend General and Exec meetings
  • Running equity training and workshops for the QPID team
  • Policy reviewing and writing (ensuring compliance with EngSoc and AMS, while updating QPID’s policies and constitution where necessary)
  • Creating rules for programming
  • Creating resources for QPID members
  • Reviewing feedback to ensure an equitable environment
  • Acting as a point of contact for QPID members

Monitoring and Evaluations Executive (1)

The Monitoring and Evaluations Executive is QPID’s form of internal accountability. M&E’s principal role is to collect and analyze feedback on QPID’s wide array of initiatives and report back to respective executives and directors.

  • Monitor and keep track of attendance
  • Keep track of feedback forms
  • Facilitate goal setting within various portfolios
