Deputy of Design

Interested in being involved in projects with Formula Racing? or Space Engineering? Robotics? what about Biomedical Innovation? What about all the above and more. There are currently 18 design teams ratified under the Engineering Society (EngSoc) each with their own incredibly unique and interesting projects. Headed by the Director of Design, the design committee oversees all 18 design teams and includes three positions: Design Logistics Coordinator, Design Outreach Coordinator, and Deputy of Design.

For the position of Deputy of Design, we are looking for any highly driven student with great organization skills, strong communication skills, and a passion for design. As Deputy of Design, you will be delegated tasks by the Director of Design and fill in for the Director of Design when they are unavailable to attend commitments. Your work will likely include organizing training sessions, communicating with teams, taking meeting minutes, ensuring the design bay is clean and in working order, along with other tasks delegated as seen fit by the Director of Design. You will work closely with design teams and the Director of Design to do whatever needs to be done.

This role comes with a lot of responsibility but will be a very interesting role and is a great opportunity to get involved with design teams and gain some very valuable experience!

Deputy of Design responsibilities are:

  • To assist the Director of Design in day-to-day operations, this may include:
    • Organizing training sessions such as OCASP training
    • Monitoring and cleaning the Design Bay when necessary
    • Taking meeting minutes at Design Team Roundtables
    • Filling into meetings when the Director of Design cannot make it
    • And much more!
  • Coordinate with Design Logistics Coordinator, Design Outreach Coordinator and assist them if necessary

Deputy of Design requirements are:

  • A passion for design teams and genuine interest in design team projects
  • Strong organization, teamworking and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Past experience in or around design teams is not required but will be considered an asset

This role will require roughly 2 - 4 hours per week time commitment and will be busier at certain times of the year when events are planned.
