Queen's Global Energy Conference (QGEC) is an organization that aims to inform undergraduate students about the diverse opportunities the Canadian energy sector can provide. Each year, we host a taster event in November of the fall semester and a weekend-long conference early in second semester. We are looking for applicants who work well in teams, are organized, and are committed.

There are a variety of positions available with varying time commitments. Typically, the full team will have bi-weekly meetings, with sub-team meetings organized as the directors deem fit. The positions we are looking to hire for are as follows:

  • Speakers Director (1)
    • Speakers Coordinators (2-3)
    • Oil and Gas Panel Coordinator (1)
  • Sponsorship Director (1)
    • Sponsorship Coordinators (2-3)
  • Logistics and Finance Director (1)
    • Logistics and Finance Coordinators (1-2)
  • Marketing Director (1)
    • Marketing Coordinators (1-2)
    • Media Coordinator (1)
  • Indigenous Equity Officer (1)
  • Environmental Equity Officer (1)

Directors:

  • Work closely with co-chairs and other directors to coordinate work and responsibilities throughout the year
  • Manage a team of 1-3 coordinators and practice valuable leadership skills
  • Learn about industry dynamics for your professional development and to be able to deliver an exciting conference!

Coordinators:

  • Work closely with directors and other coordinators on their team to complete assigned tasks throughout the year
  • Reach out to industry partners, speakers, organizations, and/or students to coordinate taster/conference involvement
  • Learn about industry dynamics for your professional development and to be able to deliver an exciting conference!

Equity Officers

  • Educate themselves to develop a high-level understanding of the relationships between the energy sector and the groups the officers are representing
  • Provide consultation to the directors and coordinators to ensure the dialogue being brought to the conference upholds Queen's and Engsoc's commitment to EDII, reconciliation, and sustainability

Interviews for director applications will be held between March 30th and April 2nd. All coordinator and equity officer positions will have interviews from April 6th to April 9th. We are happy to accommodate a virtual interview if you are on internship.
