About QEC

The Queen’s Engineering Competition (QEC) is an annual event that allows engineering students from different disciplines attending Queen’s University to compete in a variety of engineering competition categories. QEC showcases the innovation and creativity of Queen’s Engineering students, throughout a weekend of good-natured competition. The winners of each category are selected to compete at the Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC), where they compete for cash prizes and a chance to attend the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC).

We are currently hiring coordinators in the following departments, with some specific roles outlined below:

Below are the general requirements and details that apply to all positions. All Coordinators will be reporting to their respective Director throughout the work term and are expected to attend regular meetings.

General Requirements

  • A flexible weekly schedule with an eagerness to put forth quality work
    • Work term will be from April 2023 to the Conference date in 2024, including summer months (although less time commitment)
    • Passion for creativity and innovation in STEM
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Strong work ethic

    Sponsorship Coordinator Requirements

    • Reach out to companies regularly
    • Applying for grants/donations
    • Assist other coordinators as needed

      Marketing Coordinator Requirements

      • Design and manage the QEC 2023/24 website
      • Apply creativity skills to promote QEC on social media platforms
      • Take photos and videos during the conference
      • Create visual content to promote QEC on campus and during conference

      Logistics Coordinator Requirements

      • Manage delegate registration and accommodations prior to conference
      • Research possible venues and caterers to host QEC
      • Work closely with Finance Director to ensure all expenses are within budget

      Challenges Coordinator Requirements

      • Determine the outline of the competition and ensure feasibility
      • Determine the size of venue and budget needed for resources
      • Create and present a delegate/rubric package for each challenge
