.The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.

Job Description

The Director of Communications reports to the Administration co-captain and is responsible for managing the creation of media and promotional material. The Media team should have members who take video/pictures (team videographer/host), social media managers (Instagram, Linkedin, Website). Each platform will have a quota for posts/month. The Director of Communications will ensure these quotas are filled.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for the promotion of events, workshops, and any ongoing recruiting throughout the year.
  • Be responsible for the design and procurement of official Team merchandise, including team attire (team headshots).
  • Be responsible for the creation of Team digital media, including promotional material, educational resources, and submissions for awards/online challenges.
  • Be proactive to creating media for the team (taking pictures of the robots, posting progress updates, etc.)

The Director of Communications can expect to gain skills in the areas of:

  • Project Management
  • Social Media Management
  • Marketing

Time commitment ranges from 2-7 hours a week
