aQuatonomous is hiring two Mechanical Leads for the 2025-2026 academic year. These individuals will head the design, development and construction of the mechanical components of the team’s second generation ASV. This includes the design and manufacturing of the hull/hulls, implementation of a dual-drive propulsion system and fabrication or acquisition of any additional components required for mounting, waterproofing etc.
🚀 We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong communication and time management skills.
- Is ready to take on a leadership position and ensure that the team progresses efficiently.
- Capable of maintaining a level head and performing under pressure
- Has an interest in robotics, marine engineering and autonomous vehicles.
⚙️ As the mechanical lead, you are responsible for:
- Improvements upon the previous model’s hull, propulsion and bridge designs.
- Leading the creation of any 3D CAD models required for either engineering or marketing purposes.
- Development of advanced waterproofing for all electrical systems.
- Ensuring the design is compliant with the latest release of the Roboboat Handbook and that all relevant safety regulations are followed during the manufacturing process.
- Maintaining the previous generation of ASV to ensure it can be used for perception and autonomy testing.
- Completing the vessel by Roboboat 2026 and guaranteeing it can be transported by plane with minimal difficulty.
