Ahoy! Ready to take the helm in an exciting new role? Interested in robotics integration, autonomous vehicles, and cutting-edge technology? Join aQuatonomous, a competitive design team at Queen’s University focused on building and designing an autonomous surface vessel (ASV/robotic boat) for ecological and water research in harsh environments.
As we enter our second year of full operation, we’re looking to strengthen our team with a new Systems Integration Lead who will play a key role in overseeing the integration of our robotics systems. This is a brand new position that focuses on ROS architecture, autopilot system integration, custom control algorithms, and telemetry system optimization (in collaboration with the electrical team).
The 2025-2026 year will be aQuatonomous’ second year of full operation, with the ultimate goal of competing in the finals at the RoboNation RoboBoat competition in March.
🌊 We are looking for someone who:
Has strong communication skills and time management abilities.
Is ready to lead the team through complex integration challenges.
Enjoys tackling problems collaboratively and is detail-oriented in debugging.
Is excited to work with ROS, Pixhawk Drone Autopilot, and telemetry systems.
Has an interest in outdoor robotics and autonomous vehicles.
🚤 As the Systems Integration Lead, you will be responsible for:
Overseeing the integration of ROS and MAVROS with the Pixhawk to ensure smooth operation of the ASV.
Coordinating the integration of custom control systems in collaboration with the autonomy sub-team.
Optimizing telemetry systems and ensuring reliable communication for real-time data monitoring.
Collaborating with the electrical team to fine-tune and optimize existing systems.
Providing technical leadership and troubleshooting to ensure system stability and performance.
This position offers the chance to directly shape the technological backbone of our autonomous vessel and play a critical role in our success at the RoboBoat competition.
This application will close on April 6th, 2025. Interviews will be scheduled via Zoom from April 7th through April 11th.
