The Convener oversees the Science Formal Committee (approximately 38 people) and is the liaison between the Engineering Society, the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the students. The Science Formal Committee transforms Grant Hall into a venue fitting of a graduating Engineer. They oversee theme selection for your years final event and see the construction of a stage from design to reality.

The Convener must organize weekly meetings with the Chairs and will report the committee's progress to the Engineering Society President. The Convener must ensure that the event planning stays on schedule and that all of the Chairs' and Managers' respective responsibilities are being fulfilled. The Convener also coordinates all aspects of security and health & safety with the Dean of Engineering and Applied Science, Queen's Campus Security, Queen's Student Constables, Queen's First Aid, and Queen's Environmental Health and Safety. Overall, this position involves a large time commitment.
